I find it interesting how location and ethnic backround may affect this.

My parents main tactic was to shout at me, and the occasional slap if I was really naughty. But other than that there was not really any radical things that they did.

How about you guys?

i was yelled at more than anything and degradation was a favourite, but had an occasional beating session if my dad was in the mood.

Nothing, they were usually too drunk to care and if they weren't drunk they were hungover and then they were too lazy to care.

Possibly why I'm so horrible with rules now that I live with my Grandma.

Shouted at mostly, and slapped if they thought i deserved it

Yelled at, if anything. Usually just knowing my parents were mad was enough for me - "I'm disappointed" isn't something I like to hear and I'd feel guilty and awful and that's discipline enough. I didn't give my parents a lot of reason for discipline in the first place though, haha.

Hit in the face daily no matter how I behaved.

restricted freedom ofc, hit me but only a couple times
kicked me out, called me a degenerate asshole or a loser or whatever seemed sexy right then

I had a wooden spoon thing, hurt like hell XD
Also was threatened with math problems till grade 3 (he had those books with billions of math problems) then in grade 3 when I learned how to write cursive, I was threatened with writing each letter out 'x' amount of times... My dad was weird

The biggest disciplinary experience was seeing my dad, and learn not to be like him, to be honest.

I was occasionally hit when i was little, but now it's just shouting

I get the disappointed lecture. The "I can't believe you would do that...." It's pretty clever actually because it makes you feel so guilty afterwards.

Hmmmm. I never really do anything wrong.

But when I was younger I would get timeouts (you know, being sat in the corner to "think it over").

Now I guess I would probably get yelled at.
