Hugs

Is it stupid to ask someone you know well for a hug?
I love hugs but am always scared of asking for one.
I love giving and receiving hugs, especially from people i know well.
I find them great tbh.
Butthe question is, does it harm to ask?

Someone recently asked me if i needed a hug, i would have said yes but i didnt dare. I often feel i need them, they perk me up a bit.
If the person is ok with hugging aswell, do you think its better to ask or not ask?

ask it's not stupid, hugs can mean anything depending on the kind of hug, i always hug my male friends don't mean anything by it, i just like hugs! especially when it's cold

I think we all like hugs and sometimes they seem to take away a coldness that we carry. Its just that boys can be so quick to read more into it.

I hate having to be guarded about my intensions.

I do too.

When i say i love hugging people, females for example.. it doesnt mean i fancy them or anything, i just like hugs off people i feel most secure around. Most often its females. Sometimes people dont just give them unless you ask. I guess im just embarrased to ask incase people take it the wrong way or something. Im not straight and i always think people will think im physically attracted to them or something, but its not always like that.

So asking is fine then?

Well does it not depend on the person?
Like my close friend at college for example...
she knows it would only be friendly otherwise she wouldnt meet me each week. shes a lovely person, the type to give people hugs etc. I could say she is very affectionate.
If the person is like that and really doesnt mind it and doesnt become ambarrased with someone asking, then i really dont see why not.

Its only natural to ask for hugs when your down is it not
and some of my friends do want to give them
like one of my friends yesterday, who actually asked me if i needed one.

all my friends and i hug each other randomly. we dont ask for hugs. if we feel like hugging we just do it! ^^

I love hugging people, but the assholes at school don't allow it without giving you a detention.

i've never actually asked for a hug, i'd just find it awkward being like "can i have a hug?" or something

I ask, when I have too. But noramlly when I need a hug someone can tell, and they come and hug me

So yeah, I think it's perfectly normal to ask for hugs

i hug people all the time...even though im a dude. n half the time its kind of a joke. but if u know people well just ask...its not a big deal. its not like ur saying hey u wanna bang me? its just a hug.

I would say not to ask them if it's okay. I think it would just make the situation kind of awkward. Unless you mean askign only in a situation where the reciever is upset, I could understand that but I think that in any other situation you should just hug them.
