Online friendships?

Okay.. i want to know what friendship really means online to everyone?? And i'll tell ya'll my side..

An online friendship to me is like having that friend right there with you.. Evfen though i don't know my online friends personally, i still think of them as my good friends. friends i can talk to and keep intouch with.. Becasue personally i love meeting new people from around the globe. It makes me feel gr8 meeting them and i try my best to keep up with all my friends i got on here aswell as everywheres else.. Myspace-hoverspot-bebo-facebook-myyearbook. The real reason why i stay on here is becasue i enjoy chatting and reading on others bullitens.., It helps me out and keeps me intouch with other teens, Becasue to tell ya';ll the truth, Most of my friends are older then me and are all adults, so i kinda feel outa place so thats why i am set up online,, I enjoy my friends i got on here aswell as other places.., So anyways enough about my side of this, i was wondering how much your online friends mean to you??? They may not mean that much to ya'll becasue you got your real friends,, But to me they mean more then just online.. But thats kinda freaky ik but its the truth.. this is my own little world away from my hecktic lifestyle. Its where i can be me and express it to everyone.. I've said in the past i was back on and then went away.. But now i will be here for alot longer.. it makes me feel good coming here and talking about my personal issues and getting help with it. Plus makes me feel good tryin g to help others out i don';t know yet.. So anyways thats enough Bye....

I know you have to be really careful when chatting to people online. Yes, i have always realized this. However i have made some very close friends over the internet, people i have gotten to know PROPERLY etc etc. Tbh its usually obvious which are the genuine ones and which are the weirdos. Only problem is, is the communicating sid of an online friendship. Its sooo hard to express etc online and this makes it harder.

Yes ya'll are so true about it.. Thats sad and really shouldent be that way but it is, and i do have to be very careful about my online friends.. Thats why i fake everything about my personal name and ect ya know.. so no one can contact me or knows where i really live.. The internet is a very harmful place to be.. Ik that .. so thats why i make up everything about me, But not what i post up.. Just my name and where i live and where i'm from.. It keeps me safe.. I understand where ya'll are coming from. i really do and thanx for telling me about this Kat.

Personally I like online friendships but so much misunderstanding because you miss out on all of the nonverbal communication..

I dont really try to make online friends because i dont want to be stuck on the computer all day chatting to people i dont know. And i will almost certainly never meet.

You dont really get to know somebody untill you meet them face to face. Also if you just have online friends i think you may develop poor social skills and you will never truly be happy...

^ i partly agree with that

you do waste a lot of time being on the computer whilst you could be out doing something else which you would bennefit from a lot more.

i do think though that online friendships can be good because if you're a little shy or anxious it can be a great way to build confidence and if you need someone to talk to they're always there-it's easier for you to tell them because it's not someone face to face. i've had an online friend for about a year and a half now she probably knows me better than some of my real friends, and if i wanted to in the future it'd be easy to meet so...

I do like a lot of the online talk. Its a therapy for me in some ways. You do have to be careful about the 40-year old pervs posing as teens, but they usually tip their hand pretty qucikly.

Sometimes you can actually be more open with an online friend than with others--fewer dangers of gosip and such.

And some online folks are very kind and thoughtful.

it's alot easier to communicate and talk.. but i'll stick to real friends.

I don't mind talking to people from around the globe. that sounds kindda rad infact. but i won't care for them as much.

i think online friendships are good to a point. you have someone you can talk to who is an outside party of situations and that can be beneficial. you just have to watch out for the creeps out there. and no matter how "close" you are to someone, you should never give out your information to them. if you are going to meet, you should do so in a public place with other people around. because the bad part about online friends is you never know who you're talking to. yeah, they might put up pictures for you, but you don't know if thats really them.
