are any of you guys emancipated? i'm considering it, and i've done research but i would appreciate a response from someone who has experienced it first hand.

why do you want to be emancipated?
it has to be for a good reason not like blah, my parents are lame.
not saying that that is necessarily your reason.

my father died when i was ten from lung cancer. so for two years i lived with my mom, during this time she started abusing drugs and alcohol. i would here a crash at two oclock in the morning and fined her collapsed on the kitchen floor. and i'm not over dramatizing. the smoke alarm would go off and then acouple minutes later you could smell the pot. she refused to seek treatment and told me and my sister, "that i am going to live MY life the way I want to. so for four years i have been living with my grandma, but unfortidently my grandmother is not in the proper health to go to court and try to win custody of me. so all the money that was left tome when my father dies, is now being sent in $600 instalments monthly to support by moms addictions. no i have to get A LOT of scholarships for college. anyways sorry this is long but the main point is i love my grandmother and i am happy living with her, but she has serious health problems, and if she dies unexpectidly i would have to move back in with my mother.

so ya...... that's why i wanna be emancipated.....

well I would say that that is certainly a good reason.

I had considered it, but unfortunately Ohio has no emancipation laws.

My entire life I wanted so badly when I turned 16, but because of the legal difficulties involved I was not able to and now its pointless as I'll be 18 in 4 months.

Try searching on the Internet for more information as to how to go about doing it where you live.
