Hi,

It's getting ridiculous now to the point of tonight I can't sleep because it is bothering me and it's 2:18am.

One of my best friends, who's a girl, and I are in this group of friends. She is also good friends with other guys in the group and with some of them, when she hangs out with them, makes plans, or whatever, it makes me very
insecure and, honestly, jealous. I get the feeling that I'm the ol'boring one who'll be cast aside for the others. Now, admittedly I act older than my age (a couple of years I reckon seeing as my best mates are 2 years older than me), but that shouldn't be a problem.

I do not like her/am not in love with her. She is in a loving long-term relationship that I would never do anything to break up. I just want her to be happy. So it's not that.

This may seem very possessive or even self-centered of me to act and think like this. I am of a slightly paranoid character and I am insecure. However, the fact that one of the guys, who is my flatmate, I just plain DO NOT LIKE! So it incenses me when he hangs out with her. Maybe I seem him as 'competition' or something. I don't know. Maybe I see all the other guys as competition....I am SICK of competing. It probably shouldnt be seen as such anyway... I nearly managed to bring this up with her today but chickened out as I could sense that this was completely pathetic...but that doesn't stop it from happening and it is driving me crazy. And now, as well, she has become closer to a (guy) friend who she was really close with last year who she had since drifted from. It adds to it.

I just do not want to lose her. I think that may be the crux of the matter.

If anyone could see through the crazy I've just typed and break down what my problem is and/or what I can do about it, I'd be very grateful!!

been there done that and realised after wrecking a friendship that it's just because i cared about that person so much that i just didn't want them to get hurt. it's called being overprotective, and that's it. i'm a jealous person too and when i see my close mates being close with their other mates i feel like crying. if you wanna talk about it, PM me.

(are you in england? i noticed the time you wrote in your post (2.18am) was ten mins before you sent the post (2.28am) and it probably woulda taken about ten mins to type that...)
