Exclamation Bad habit

Recently I have been overly stressed due to family and school, and so one of my friends told me to try smoking cigarettes. And now I have been smoking some what regularly... I'm just afraid that I won't be able to stop.
Also, I used to self harm, and so to avoid that, I started smoking. I talked to some of my friends that used to self harm and they said that after they stopped they started smoking. I'm not quite sure how to deal with it all..

well either way smoking is still considered self harming
i smoke for stress but i still self harm as well
if your not addicted then its easy to quit. i quit for 3 months but started up again to keep my stress levels down

If you aren't addicted yet quit while you can. I've been trying to quit smoking for a year and I still haven't been able to beat my addiction.

Quit while you're not addicted. It's easier now, when you get addicted it could be almost impossible.

Quit while you can! Dont let your body depend on them for too long because then you wont be able to stop. Try to occupy your mouth with something other than ciggarettes such as sucker and carrot sticks.

If you just can't give them up, then I advise you to get an E-Cigarette. At least then you're reducing the risk of health problems but of course aren't eliminating them by this option either. Nicotine is still very bad for you, but at least you wont be taking in all the carcinogens and chemicals that are used in cigarettes.

I used to smoke cigarettes, and recently purchased an E-Cigarette, and although they aren't exactly the same I haven't touched a cigarette since.

What the....I didn't think drug abuse was an option over smoking but guess in some case's you may be correct. Thank's for that input I'll actually make a note of that.

You shouldn't have started in the first place.
Just quit doing them. They're an expensive way to temporarily relieve stress but they permanently damage you at the same time.

Instead of self-harm or smoking for stress relief, I've found that exercising is just as good if not better. I've been swimming, about 30-45 minutes, every night for the past couple of years and not only does it help me relax and think about things, but I'm in prime shape and that gives me a nice self-confidence boost as well. I'd recommend you to try it out! (Stop smoking as that definitely doesn't help exercise.)
