It baffles me the more I think about it. Why do teens want to get drunk at parties or in general? I understand having one or two drinks to loosen up and become less nervous at a party, but you have a choice to keep going or to stop and many teens keep going and I don't understand why. There is no benefit to drinking (except wine, I understand that a glass or two of wine a night has health benefits). You become an obnoxious idiot when drunk and if you drink excessively you are wasting time partying when you could be doing something more productive.
The only thing I can think of is that alcohol is illegal until 21 (in the United States) and so it is a "cool" and "edgy" to drink when you're underage and you want to stand up to the man and be a rebel.
Can anyone shed light on why certain teens love to get wasted? I must be a really boring person because I do not see why it is appealing. |

mainly because they think its cool
pretty much all of my young teen friends drink. I dont as I don't like alcohol
they see their friends doing it so they join in. same as smoking point or having sex.

Truthfully... I don't usually even realize when I'm past my limit (but that's pretty high, I can handle a fair amount), because I don't keep moving as much as I should, then when I go to walk it hits me (lol). But of course, I don't really ever get "wasted" (again, not a lightweight), I only sip until I'm happily buzzing haha | |

Actually I'm not sure. Some people do it to make friend's or to get laid or because their bored. Other's do it because they can and many do it because they actually enjoy doing it. Personally I don't get wasted it's just not my thing but I have been known to party from time to time. So I'm in no condition to judge.

Um, some do it to get buzzed, to loosen up... others do it to lose inhibitions and do crazy stuff  But I don't know why you drink so much you forget what happened... peer pressure maybe? >.<
