Now, this was exactly my first worry on going to Greece to live and work. I hadn't a clue. What didn't help was my getting friends with a guy only to see him leave because he was on holiday.
So what I did was go to the same bar/ cafe. Making a habit of sitting at the same place meant I was going to be recognised after a while. And what the best thing that happened was, some people said "arne't you a tourist then?"
Their asking me was the perfect opportunity to make friends. And those same people have remained my best mates even after I left the country.
We all have to start somewhere. A caff is a good place because thats where people come to relax. And when relaxed, it's the best time to say hello.
