Now in my freshman year, I wanted to change that. I joined the football team. It has given me confidence, determination, and a purpose. Well it did. It was one of the best things I ever did for my social life, not to mention I love the damn sport. The thing is, I'm not so sure I want to play it after this season. I mean it's exciting, but long. Practices and two-a-days are ridiculus. The thing is, I don't want to become a bum again. I want to do extra-curricular things. I want to make my parents proud. I think I am pretty good at basketball, but not good enough to be on a team. I want to like girls who play sports, and when we become friends I always think they're better than me because they do something and damn good at it. Same with other friends. I want to...be somebody. A purpose. I want to be a part of something but I just don't like all the time-consumption in football. I loose alot of my summer. It's too late to go back and play a sport because I can't. A big regret, although I have fond memories without them. |

In middle school I joined the wrestling team. I got pretty good after my 3 years in middle school. I wasn't great, I wasn't as god as all the stars in my town (which just happens to have all the top notch wrestlers) but i wasn't the worst. Anyway I just never thought I was god at it and I hated the tough practices so I quit when I got to high school. I regret it now...I don't play any other sports. I'm in the marching band but thats not exactly "cool".
The point is I think you'll regret if you quit. You'll be in shape for all those sporty girls, and most girls love going to see their man play in a sports game. You said it was one of you best decisions right? I know its tough, but look at al the good that comes out of it. It looks good when you apply to college, and even for jobs and things.
Yeah, it takes up time, but everything does. The longer you do it the easier it will get. Especially if this is your first season it'll be tough. If you stay in shape it'll be easier next year. If you quit I think you'll regret it, cuz I did.
And by the way...people here play football so their in shape for the wrestling season. So idk how big it is there but wrestling might be agood sport for you. Its a winter sport, so you have you're whole summer. Only thing you'd miss with that really is when we have a few practices over winter break..but that depends on your team. And it gets you in really good shape...for the ladies |

I say keep at it, because it sounds like you're ultimately doing this for yourself and no one else; like you're doing this for you. If you stop now, you'll probably regret it later in life especially since you're already having regrets about your early years. Even though it's hard now, and you have no motivation, you have to encourage yourself to stick with it! Besides, after wards, more good memories will come (and everything else good too ^^). |

Does your school or community offer intramural sports? It's a good way to play at your leisure and meet new people. There's no strict schedule holding you down.

At the end of the day, you've put enough effort into football already; you might as well carry on with it and get better because otherwise all that time you spent on it will be a waste of time. You love the sport, and you obviously have the willpower to develop a good dedication to it, so there's nothing stopping you. Yeah there probably is a lot of practicing, but that is what will enhance your ability at the thing you love. Show a little dedication to it and get what you really want
