I get 20,000 when I turn 18. I'm going to save most of it and use it as some seed money when I move out and to help pay for my college expenses. I decide I would take some money I have saved up and maybe a little bit from my 20,000 and go on a trip to Europe for two weeks. I decided my best bet was to stay in one city instead of trying to see all of Europe on one trip. I decided on Amsterdam.My budget is going to be somewhere between 3-5k.


I'm most likely going to go alone since all my friends are the typical Americunts and I want to be a suave international playboy. I looked on line and a round trip ticked averages around 1,300 which is nice. I plan on staying in a hostel and livening pretty cheaply. I plan on checking out some of the museums and historical places and maybe the coffee shops and the red light district.

I have a few questions. Has anyone ever gone on a trip like this and if so how was it? What European customs should I be aware of? Whats the nightlife like in Amsterdam? What is the best place to meet women? Whats the most nutritious way to eat cheaply?

Well, I have been to Amsterdam, but only for one day. Be aware of thieves and swindlers there, first of all. What about food, in my opinion, McDonald's os always favourable)

If you stay in the western Europe, customs shouldn't be a problem.

you have a 3-5k budget for two weeks (minus the 1.5k for the tickets). Wow, I don't think your actually gonna hit the budget at all, but maybe you should go to somewhere else instead of just Amsterdam for 2 weeks. Simply because you can :]

Thanks guys. I was thinking I could maybe eat some nice European cuisine like fresh baked bread while I was there. I was hoping I could meet some people at the hostel or somewhere around town to hang out with. Is there a big club scene downtown?

What would be the best way to keep my money and passport safe?

I was thinking of maybe venturing out to Germany for maybe 3-4 days in the middle of my trip. I did the calculations and after air fare if I have 3k left over I will have about 234 dollars a day which after room and board leaves me with well over $150 day. I don't even spend that much money in a week lol.

a few of my buddies went to amsterdam for 3 nights on a big piss up, they said it was awesome, so i guess good choice of city the night life is basicaly what you go for.

I plan to take the train to Frankfurt in the middle of my trip and stay for a few days. The club scene and techno is supposed to amazing.
