Really Straight Hair

For you girls with super-straight hair that looks like it should be featured in an Herbal Essences commercial, how do you get it to look like that?

I have really thick hair. It's this strange combination of wavy and straight. I've tried flat-ironing it in the morning before school, I've tried showering and blow-drying it before school, I've tried different shampoos...

I've even tried using lots of hairspray, but that only adds to my hair's natural tendency to be kind of poofy.

Any advice?

Hair-straightener = Flat-ironing it? :P

Or do you mean the product. There are hair products for hair straightening.

But I know that look... long silky hair, its so hoot :P

sprays are out there to help with that.

Yeah, I call it flat-ironing.

My hair stays straight for a little while, but by the end of the day, it's kind of wavy again. Do you think that I should try blow-drying AND flat-ironing instead of one or the other? Or could that potentially damage my hair?

Re: Really Straight Hair

You just need a huge combination of stuff that all straightens. My hair's naturally straight, and I got a perm... which is almost grown out. But when I straighten it I use:

Herbal Essences straight hair shampoo and conditioner.
This cream stuff... Garnier Fructis i think.
This spray that is REALLY awesome.
Blow drying it mostly straight.
Then straightening it completely straight.
Then some kind of finishing spray would probably be good too.

It's not good to do that all the time though, you have to leave it natural once in awhile. Because doing all that DOES damage your hair. Just do it a few days a week.

Re: Really Straight Hair

I have long dead straight hair and rarely straighten it unless I like tie it up when its wet and let it dry, I know my hairdresser said the longer someones hair is the more likely it will stay straight after someone uses straightners/the more naturally straight it will become. How true this is I'm not sure. I know layers un-do this though and actually make hair less straight.

But I would definatly look up Avon's hair techniques page, I use serum when I have a huge crimp and that helps I guess.

Thanks so much! I'll have to try that.

I was actually thinking about getting layers. Now I'm not so sure, though. Thanks for the input.

Re: Really Straight Hair

there's a straightening perm you can do, it's just like a curly perm but straight. thing is it's not cheap, and doesn't last forever.
if your hair is thick i'd say go get your hair thinned out, and straighten that.
