Here's what I found... Most popular brands contain Benzoyl Peroxide, which is an antibacterial and bleaching agent. Benzoyl Peroxide in topical products can be irritating to the skin and can be annoying because it can bleache hair, clothing, and towels when using products that contain this ingredient. Some cleanser and repairing lotion both contain Benzoyl Peroxide. The first thing I learned is to use products that do not contain Benzoyl Peroxide.
Also, some brands contain an ingredient called Polyethlene, which is a physical abrasive. The problem with physical abrasive or exfoliates, is they can lead to increased irritation and redness with those who have acne. The best thing is to find a product that uses Salicylic Acid in their Cleanser, Toner, and Day and Night Treatment. Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliate which helps remove and break up dead skin cells, penetrating the pore to eliminate the blemishes. Because salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliate, it decreases the risk or irritation when compared to the physical abrasive used in most products.
When I followed these steps, I got rid of acne.
What do YOU use? |

And i have hair to cover that up, and its only pimples not acne. Also if i don't shave they show up a little. Also if you smoke weed, you will get less, mostly it helps destress. Not that its a reason to smoke weed, just i noticed the kids who smoke usually don't have acne. |

Money: 808 Last Online: 09-05-2011 06:27 PM My Mood: | Re: Acne solutions I used to use Clearasil, but found that it began to irritate my skin. So i decided to go natural! Firstly, wash your face twice a day. It's amazing the difference there is when you wash your face before going to bed. And just use water and a facecloth (preferably a terry towel one; the roughness of it helps to exfoliate your skin).
Secondly, drink lots of water! Ideally at least a litre and a half. And don't think "oh, there's water in vegetables, etc". You need 1.5 litres on top of all that indirectly absorbed water!
Thirdly, the application of Echinacea does wonders. Echinacea is a natural oil from some Swiss flower. It's anti-bacterial and anti-inflamatory, so it'll kill the bugs causing the acne plus reduce redness. However, it is a bit expensive. Selective application of this to the affected area should see a noticable improvement in a few days. I was on several anti-biotics over a period of six months for moderate acne on my back. I eventually found out about the properties of Echinacea and within three days of using it, my back saw a bigger improvement than it had within the six months of using anti-biotics!
Finally, when the spots are dead (i.e. they are no longer yellow or sore) use some form of Zinc oxide cream (e.g. Sudocrem, the stuff you use for bedsores, nappy rash, etc.). Apply this sparingly to the affected area. Don't use it on clear skin at all, as it will cause the pores to become blocked and cause further spots. Zinc helps to heal skin, and so help get rid of scars. For heavier scars (some forms of pock-marking), try using bio-oil (web address: bio-oil.info). Daily application of this should see an improvement within a few weeks.
And I don't care what research says, things like greasy food and chocolate do have an effect on skin. And don't forget stress! It's very important to chill and relax every day!!!!
Hope this helps!

What do YOU use? | well, benzoyl peroxide is what works... it dries out the pimple and makes it fall off... but my main solution is keeping my greasy-food intake, and keeping my face washed as much as possible. drywall mud, and oxy(yes it has B.P. in it) are both effective.
oh, and acne is mainly caused by oils and other things trapped in the pores of your skin. this irritates and causes swelling and puss to build up, and hence the pain.
since ice is used to reduce swelling, i wonder if it would work to lower the irritation in pimples so trhey could be cleaned out... o.O

I use TCP, an antiseptic.
Dip a q-tip in it, and just put it on them & they usually sort out in a few days.
It really smells though. |

Went to the dermatologist and got a perscription for a drug called Roaccutane (Isotretinoin)... it works really well (at a cost). You take 1 tablet a day after a meal, I've been on these for about 8 months and have 1 box to go (1 box = 60 tablets). I have not one pimple on my entire body - just a few barely visible scars!
It's somewhat costly, however, and makes your skin, eyes and lips really dry.
