Important to most people no, important to some yes. It all depends on the kind of person who you would ask that to. But in my opinion NO! They are entertaining to watch though. But whats the point in them, you parade around like a piece of meat while someone tell you if your pretty or not. It's pointless. It creates more insecurity.

They are not important in the grand scheme of things because they are only entertainment. Entertainment is something that does not actually contribute to society, but is something we enjoy investing time in.

no. they are sick.
for example 'little miss sunshine' the movie. the 7yr old girls in that pageant were real pageant competitors, its disgusting that theyre parents get them to do that; being 'sexy' and wearing more makeup than jefree star (lol).
and make people feel bad about their weight, looks, ect.
ugh.
