How do you become.

I have seen people with the status global mod and like 9 stars. I know what a moderator is but i dont know how people become one. I always thought you were hand picked because you stood out from others. But since it is with the stars after you get a certain amount of posts are you one. Someone please explain it to me. I just dont understand it.

Those who have no interest in becoming 1 really don't need to know.

If it were done by post count, then everyone could just spam until they reach that number, and then everyone could become global moderator.

Basically, I think your confused over the stars...they're just given as an add on after you become mod..and global mod and stuff is just a customised user title peopel give themselves

the stars change your status until you become super senior member, i believe.
they don't turn you into a moderator. stars are only your post count. moderators are picked by the admins, when there is room or there are enough members that we need more.

actually tomski is a super mod and he has less posts than most of us here.

Theres no such thing as global mod and then normal mod

If you see global mod in a user title, the member will have just named themseleves that..but they are still a normal mod

Okay your argument fails in so many ways. You say there's no such thing as global moderators, but I don't think this forum can work without them.

Suppose someone was a local moderator in board A and board B. Doesn't that mean they can move 1 thread from board A to board B?

But what if someone wsa just a local moderator in 1 board only, how could he/she go about moving a thread to another board if he/she is not a local moderator there, or a global moderator?

This is what it means to be a local moderator in every forum. A local moderator is only useful in editing/deleting posts in the board they are a local moderator in.

Oh yeah, and moderators can give infractions, and ban users. If moderators were only local moderators, wouldn't that mean they can only ban you from the forum that they are local moderator in, and not the entire forum? Or are they simply global moderators?

This is why infractions and bans are global, not local.

You both are talking right but still arguing. All of our moderators are global moderators actually. But we don't label them as global moderators.

We label them as Moderators & Super Moderators.

but the word global has come from JCpatriots usertitle, which he wrote in himself...there are only two separate mod groups, and thats supermod and moderator..there is only 1 supermod-Tomski...every other mod has the same powers as each other.
