The Usual Suspects was shallow and American History X tried too hard. I also forgot to shit on Titanic. What a terrible film.

The Usual Suspects had a cast of shallow characters, with no development throughout the movie at all, relying on one obvious twist to make the movie. It was like an even shallower version of The Sixth Sense.

American History X gave me kind of an emotional reaction when I first watched it, but then I saw it again and really thought about it scene for scene and there is not one scene that isn't trying to get some racial message across, or showing characters being parodies of themselves. Not even Derek's "character development" was impressive to me because it sent a message that the movie already accomplished sending a lot.

Titanic had a story structure that could probably date back to the era when romance fiction first started. I mean, it was well acted and looked stunning, but that doesn't make the story itself any less lame.

I'll make a list if i ever feel like sitting down and thinking about 50 movies I like, and then ordering from favourite to least favourite. Just sounds like a lot of work.
