  • From what I heard, this is a left-over bug which Safari had at one point as well (due to the webkit similarities).

Does it work? A couple suggestions, just as far as general coding practice goes: 1) Don't comment the totally obvious 2) C++ writes programs, not scripts

  • It is in the army's best interest not to have a draft. Think about it - volunteer soldiers will always be more motivated than drafted soldiers, thus making them more effective in combat. I don't think the USA needs to initiate a draft, and I don't think it wants to.

I wrote one for a school project that used wordpress (more as a CMS than a blogging system) with a very customized theme. Its not online any more, but it was very educational to write.

But see, a general tutorial won't tell you quite how to do that. You'll need to know how to capture input (the website address), execute an external command (launch the web browser), and the last step, opening the link in the browser, really doesn't involve much C++ at all. That's what I meant by specific things. Every program can be broken down into specific actions.

Well application programming is pretty broad. What kind of program are you trying to write? I've found the first stages of programming don't even involve any coding. Getting a great plan in order, and then fitting the code to the plan is really the way to do it.

Ok I was going to post links but apparently I can't do that because my post count isn't high enough... Google is your friend here though. 'C++ beginner tutorial' most of the results on the first page should be quite relevant. Books - anything by Bjarne Stroustrup should be quite good, although possibly not beginner material. You'd really have better results if you were able to pin-point an area of interest, though.

Any particular reason you want to use C++? If you have a specific area of interest, you will probably be able to find tutorials much easier (speaking as a planned computer science major here).

I'm actually posting from it right now. I love firefox's extensions (adblock and friends), but boy is Chrome fast! Its got some nice features and a very streamlined UI as well. I'll probably go back to firefox after a couple days because there's no linux beta yet, but google has come out with a great product here.
