Guns are a deterrent. My uncle has his CCW permit and he's been carrying 24/7/365 since the 70's, long before any of us have been born. Those who intend to take away guns are afraid of guns. Guns don't kill people, people kill people, and if we all had guns then it's going to take even more irrational amounts of stupidity for a criminal to try and commit a crime.

There will always be guns. If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. An armed society is a polite society. I think everyone deemed mentally stable enough with a clean criminal record should carry a gun at all times. Gun control is using both hands.
