Quote from Ripplemagne: “Much as you would likely care about getting out the word that smoking is bad for you, et cetera. The same is applicable.” I can't believe I never thought of that before (smoking as an analogue). I mean, there is actual proof that cigarettes are bad for you and will eventually give you cancer. I would even go so far as to say that the information is largely common knowledge. And yet people still smoke. And yet, others still decry the evils of smoking to anyone that will l…

Quote from Ripplemagne: “Actually, I'm a Nazarene and it's important historical content in its full context. "On the whole world there pressed a most fearful darkness. The rocks were rent by an earthquake and many places in Judea and other districts were thrown down. This darkness Thallus, in the third book of his History, calls, as appears to me without reason, an eclipse of the sun. For the Hebrews celebrate the passover on the 14th day according to the moon, and the passion of our Savior fall…

LP sort of became Nu metal after the fact. When they came, the genre either wasn't widespread or well-known enough for them to be put into it, but they do fit into the category, for the most part anyway. There are more factors that go into it than simply a mash up of rock and rap. What kind of rock? what kind of rap? Gym Class Heroes, I kind of want to say .... alt/pop with rap or R&B roots or something like that, whereas LP (simply for sake of example) also combine rap and rock elements, but cr…

To be fair, after a certain point it's hard to create something doesn't copy something else to some extent, simply due to the sheer amount of things that have been created in the past hundred years. Especially with the advent of computers and the internet over the last thirty years, there is simply so much stuff out there, that it's not only possible to copy something completely by accident, it's actually very probable. And still, there is something to be said for re-imagining, reinventing, recy…

Quote from Esmo: “I must admit, I don't see why she has to be naked, unless the only way of getting people to like animals these days is with the sexy ladies, but the Catholic church is getting into an unnecessary tizz, seeing as there's no need for nakedness to be wrong. Especially seeing as I wasn't aware they held property rights on the crucifix... :allnight:” The idea behind the ad is that this attractive, nude, possibly angelic girl is telling you that you should adopt animals as opposed to…

Re: God.
PostQuote from C.D.: “Believers in God see Him as an all-loving, all-giving, all-forgiving, and all-righteous creature. I don't believe they see their neighbors in the same exact light. To them it makes sense to follow what is only good and what only cares for you. Whatever floats ones boat, I guess.” I just don't see why that matters. Either way, that person is living their life according to someone else's standards, whih in my view, is stupid. Quote from Radioactive_Pig: “Isn't this what i've been…

Re: God.
PostQuote from Radioactive_Pig: “Well they're happy believing in him, so isn't that what matters?” To me, living your life based on what God thinks of you makes as much sense as living your life based on what your neighbor hinks of you, or hell, what I think of you. I just don't understand it.

Re: God.
PostI never did understand why God's existence, or lack thereof, meant so much to people. If someone could enlighten me, that'd be wonderful. As it stands, I don't think anything about me would change if it was proven either way. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't get why people care so much about what god thinks of them. If you're happy with who you are, that should be all that matters.
