  • Quote from Dr.Carter: “Faith out of unfounded plausibility? You're really going to play that card?” Please don't take my words out of context. I'm not saying I have "undying faith" or anything like that. I'm just saying it's possible. There's no proof one way or the other, so it's impossible for someone like me to be sure. But still, what if? I don't think of it as faith. I think of it as something to wonder about.

  • Quote from FSM: “Not for me. As an ex-catholic i can see exactly why people believe in god. it is a way to get easy explanations for things we do not understand and a way to take courage in the face of death. the problem me and many atheists have is not that they are believing in god as this is acceptabe. its the joining together to form stong political groups which can influence peoples lives. I and many other dont dislike theism we dislike religion. two completely different things. Theism is a…

  • Quote from FSM: “One of the main points about evolution by natural selection is that no guidance is needed. Its a blind force.” No guidance that we know of. It's impossible to prove scientifically that God does or doesn't exist; there's no way to show any divine activity either. That doesn't necessarily mean there is none.

  • Evolution is supported by science and reason, so that's what I believe in. But I also believe that the course of evolution probably took place through divine guidance.

  • I don't think being a lesbian means what you think it means, Njord. It means that a woman is physically attracted to other women, and not to men. It doesn't mean they have to be "butch"; a lesbian can be just as feminine as any straight woman. Using a dildo is a substitute for male genitalia, not a substitute for a man. Sexual pleasure, attraction, and romance correlate, but you can have one without the other two, and you can have two without the other one. Besides, I'm sure there are some lesbi…

  • The love triangle is a popular tool used in books, movies, etc. revolving around romance, or with romantic subplots. The love triangle is powerful, emotional, and often bittersweet. What are your thoughts? Are all love triangles good or bad? Is there a right way or a wrong way to execute them? What are some of the best and worst love triangles you've read/seen?

  • Yes, people can see life that way. It's hard for some to understand, but for atheists, it's equally hard to understand believing in something nobody can prove exists. The idea that life is completely pointless is scary. But some atheists believe this to be the truth, and I think they take comfort in "knowing" that.

  • I can respect others' beliefs, as long as they keep them within reason. Disrespect to people who are "different" is something I can't tolerate, even if it's justified by religion.

  • Quote from ameera-creme: “i my mind if a book ad be completely absorbed then therefore it was good” In my mind, that's usually true. But in the end, I couldn't think of anything good to say about the book. And I tried. It's like you're eating something, then you take the last bite and think, "This wasn't even good. I need something else to get rid of that flavor." That's pretty much how I felt about it.

  • For the sake of boredom, I re-read the first book. It had me completely absorbed, and I couldn't put it down from start to finish. I stayed up until 6 in the morning reading it. Then, as I set it aside, I thought to myself, "That wasn't even good."

  • Quote from Chocolatte: “I think girls, like me, rely on the boy to ask them out. I think it'd be better if we could just ask the boy out. :/” You can, and there's nothing wrong with that. Just be aware that some boys like that, and some don't. There's always the chance you'll be rejected, but I'd rather be rejected after asking a boy out than never know what he thinks of me.

  • Quote from I Promise: “I never quite understand the religious argument as, if God made everything, and created us, then surely he created gay people too. Or am I missing something? ” I agree, but there are people who think homosexuality is a choice, therefore ruling out the idea that God created them that way. Still others think that nobody's born gay, but some become so by being tricked by Satan.

  • Quote from hheartstrongg: “Hah. That's not what I'm saying at all. I love when my words are taken out of context! No, for the people who can act mature about it and say "You know I really don't like the books she writes" etc, that's the way you should be going about it. But people go way too far in their hate and criticism, and I just think it's really hard to criticise something that much when most likely, these people can't even do what she did. And I don't mean write a best selling book, I me…

  • Quote from hheartstrongg: “Like I said, nobody here has a book that swept the world that quick and that intensely, so why are you criticizing someone who probably writes better than any of you do?” First: Keep in mind that this is a teen forum. Most authors, Meyer included, are adults. Don't expect all of us to write on an adult level- especially a book. And just because she's written a book and I haven't, how does that automatically make her a better writer than me? It makes her more popular; t…

  • Quote from dreamland: “aha. twilight was okay, i liked it (a lot less when it became insanely popular). and the second two books were okay. breaking dawn was bad. but IMO it's gotten WAYYYYY more attention then it deserves. from the fangirls AND the people who hate it. i feel bad for all the better authors out there, honestly.” I agree. People seem to take these books way too seriously.

  • The first thing to do to get the most out of your summer is to stop saying things like, "It HAS to be amazing", or "It's going to be a great summer OR ELSE!" That attitude will set your expectations very high, and you'll feel like your summer sucked if it doesn't live up to that. On that note, mix it up. Go out and party, go to a movie, go bowling or mini-golfing. Try something new, like a restaurant you've never been to or a new ride at the amusement park. Perhaps you could take up a sport, or …

  • My response to the video: I'm not complaining about Breaking Dawn because it "wasn't what I wanted it to be". Frankly, the third book's ending was what I didn't want it to be, and for many reasons. What I'm complaining about for Breaking Dawn is the justification Meyer created for it. It really seemed like a cheap, half-cooked solution to one of the series' more interesting conflicts.

This thread is for those of us who don't like Twilight. The two main characters have no personality, the plots are nearly nonexisten…
