Aw man, this is so sad! ill pray for him, and i understand how you feel (my mom has breast cancer) so, just the way i do it, is just to make a lot of memories for him! Play with him outside, and just have a blast with him. its so sad how people dont realize how important some things are until they are about to lose it.
