I want to be able to do backflips, you know like the ones gymnasts do, anyone have any tips to be able to do them? or can do them themselves? Eventually I want to be able to do about 3 one after the other. Here's a girl in the process of one. |

I don't ahve a video but I can help describe.
First practice jumping while pushing your head back. If you're doing this right, you'll feel like you're going to fall and have to catch yourself.
Next, jump as high as you can and bring your knees to your chest and squeeze them to your chest with your arms. Then do this while pushing your head back.
Then, put something like a wide, tough belt, or something else that could serve around your waist. Ask someone to spot you. The spotter will grab the belt, and when you jump, pick up your legs and thrust them behind you, assisting you in teh flip.
Doing the flip:
1.) Bring your arms straight out in front of you, then bring them down, and back up as fast as you can. You don't want to cut and go straight up in the air, but sort of make a half circle with your arms.
2.) Bring your knees to your chest and tilt your head back. This is when the spotter grabs behind your knees and grabs the belt. The spotter will pull upwards on the belt to keep you from falling. As you get better at this, you will begin to go too far over, and often times land on your back. This is a sign that you are ready to lessen spotter assistance. I recommend having them not push your legs over as much first, that way if you mess up, they will still be able to grab you with the belt. Eventually you'll be doing them like they're nothing. |

so you forgot them when you moved out? | Sort of, I didn't have a big advantage as I had when I moved to Sweden, and since I had the advantage of having friends that also were interested in backflips and such, but when I moved here I couldn't really find those sort of people. So I guess I basically grew out of it, and now it's been years since I did that, so I've forgotten how to do it.
