Is anyone else doing more than one language for GCSE?
I was just wondering if anyone else is studying more than one language and how you're coping with it. Do you find yourself using the wrong language sometimes? Do you think you'll do well in your exams? Which language are you strongest in?
I'm doing Spanish and French.
I often get them mixed up! But it can be embarassing because it's the simple words that I get confused with
According to my predicted grades I'm better at French, however I feel more confident with Spanish.
Do you have to learn the answers to all those questions for your oral exams? I'm finding it really difficult! And I've got less than a month to learn them!

Re: Is anyone else doing more than one language for GCSE?
Well I don't take more than one language, I only take French but most people that take French (there are only around 20 of us) take Spanish too and many get them mixed up. One of my friends said she ended up speaking Spanish in her French speaking mock haha. I think most of them are stronger in Spanish too, but that's because Spanish is the main MFL at my school so they've learnt it longer although I came from a different school where I learnt French as the school's main MFL.
With the speaking exam I don't learn the answers, a new one comes out everytime I get asked the question and it must work for I got an A* in my speaking mock

Re: Is anyone else doing more than one language for GCSE?
heyy I do French and i'm glad i've done my oral top tip: if I was you i'd learn them as soon as you can, like starting now, because I left it with about a week to go , had about 7 pages of French to memorise and couldn't memorise them all, it was just too much. You need to do a bit at a time. Oh don't panic either, that way you'll forget things
Oh and also by the way for all our language departments they had a "pattern" of the areas they asked you, and since not all the languages exams are on the same day , you can work out the pattern and find out which areas your doing, that is cheating though.

I thought you had to do 2. :S
I had to.
Spanish and German.
I didn't get them mixed up tbh..they're completely different!
But yeah having to learn both the oral speeches was hard.

Re: Is anyone else doing more than one language for GCSE?
Tomski - wow! it would take a miracle for me to get an A* in my French or Spanish. Unfortunately I missed both mock exams cos I had flu What happened to your friend will probably happen to me - I'll use the wrong language!
Nicole - I'm near the beginning of the alphabet so I can't work out the pattern
I've already learnt 2 of my french topics and 2 of my spanish topics Just four topics for each language left to go
Did I mention I haven't even written the answers for those other topics yet, and this forum keeps distracting me!

Re: Is anyone else doing more than one language for GCSE?
I had to do ESL (English As A Second Language) for my exams (they aren't called GCSE)
Then Advanced French because native speakers are kind of cheating if they get put in a normal french class.

Since 2004 (I think), you don't even have to do one.
I did German. I wanted to do Spanish as well but I couldn't.
