Yes for all services you have to do 1.5 mile run on a treadmill at a fitness centre.

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
On a treadmill? Great. I can do better than 10 mins for 1.5 miles on a treadmill, haven't done it off one for a while though it's a little bit harder.
What else do they test you on?

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
For fitness you have to attend a PRMC at the commando training centre royal marines down at lympstone, devon.
It is 3 days and will test your fitness and DETERMINATION(One of the commando qualities) You will do a 3 mile run 1.5 miles of it will be done as a troop of 50 then the rest of the run which is 1.5 miles you have to do best effort under 10 minutes.
You will do a bleep test and have to achieve level 11 minimum( depends on how you scored on your phycometrics test eearlier on in the app process) You will do a gym test where they test your pull ups press ups and sit ups. you will do a determination test where u bassicaley run around doing pres ups and all sorts to see who keeps on going to see who is determined enough to pass, you will also do part of the tarzan assault course.

Doesn't sound that bad. Then again, doing is a lot different to saying.
BBC - h2g2 - Special Air Service Selection and Training
Read that, it's about SAS tests - sounds practically impossible

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
Ye know quite a bit on that aswell, To be honest its not even wourth thinking until you have joined the forces anyway. You have to be more thabn an international athelete to do what they do, Tabbing across the penines in wales is no easy task and they have to do it under a certain time.

Yeah, I live in Wales, and I've been all around the beacons - it's pretty hard to walk through.
And I wasn't considering it, just curious as to how hard the tests were

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
weird place, most of a lot of it is just heath really, barren land rubbish for farming. Never been to snowdon though i'd expect it to be similar.

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
hi. im a lance cpl in the army cadets. iv been in for 3 years. i wanna join S019, and then an officer in the royal marines. i got told by lke 4 senior officers that id have gr8 mental and physical stamina and id be perfect 4 special forces. im 15, and have a lot of training. this will also help me get in. and i know im young, but i think that i could do it. iv researched the SAS, GIGN-9, SO19, the SEALS and i think that with help i could pull it off. thats were the royal marines come in

Re: Royal Marines Commando's
what is SO19?
And you do know you cant join special forces straight off the streets...you have of served 3 years in any of the armed services and then apply for special forces selection.
Well if your very determined and thats what you want im sure you could get into 'SO19' or the Royal Marines. What ever tickled your pickle...
You do know you also have to get A levels as well to be an officer..And im not being up myself or anything but i would of thought you would atleast try getting into the royal marines or any other infantry unit before even considering Speical forces i mean you may not even like it when you try it.
