Self Motivation issues

Hey folks,

Having a bit of a dip in my life at the moment and feeling a bit down, due to the lack of self motivation I've had for a while.

I'm Luke and I'm 17 from the UK and I'm currently doing at college retaking GCSE english, and doing National OCR Business and AS Music Technology.

I pretty much screwed up getting kicked out of school when I was 15 because I simply never bothered to do any work. At the moment all I have is a C in GCSE maths. I have absolutely no idea what I want to do as a career, I want to leave my options open but I just simply can't motivate my self to get my work completed at college.

I've been told I'm very capable knowledge wise and I'm a very verbal person at expressing my knowledge verbally. It's just motivating myself to get it down on paper. I simply cannot motivate my self to do something that I find boring or do not enjoy.

Some of my hobbies include,

Design
Music Production (visit my myspace I produce UK Hardcore, which is a form of rave music - myspace.com/djxbondy
Raving
DJing

I'm sure theres a few things that I could add to my life to make me generally happier such as a girlfriend but I have yet to find a half decent girl that I remotely understand.

Anyways, if any of you have had or have similar problems as me share your thoughts as I'm sure it can help all of us.

Re: Self Motivation issues

My situation is very similar to yours, accept i starting off working hard and gradually gave up and am still in school. I have no motivation to sit down and spend 3 hours on writing a history essay on "to what extent did Gladstone's second ministry reflect the principals of Gladstonian Liberalism?" none of it seems important - just an excuse to delay making a decision on what i want to do for a career.

Re: Self Motivation issues

I have had motivational problems. Difference is it's all apart of the disorder i am being diagnosed for.

It may be just the way you are. I never wanted to do it.
