You shouldn't have to choose. If you'd rather be an uneducated, stupid person with friends who won't see you succeed, you're extremely misguided. I'd much rather be an educated person who will make it far in life based on how much they know and gather friends later on.

I rather live a simple life with people to hang with, than money and no friends at all. but thats just me

Paris Hilton isn't successful. Her album bombed, her perfume line sucks, her movie bombed. She's not successful. She got an inheritance.
And just because someone doesn't have friends right now or has a few friends right now doesn't mean you won't have friends in the future. And success isn't just money, it's a strong, stable job, a college education, a family. Not just money.

But if someone finds that sitting in your moms basement at 25 years old with a job at McDonalds and a bunch of friends, but no basic education that would get you anywhere in life because your bunch of friends weren't loyal enough to stick by you in your decisions is success, then I think that there's a serious issue.
