I am an out spoken geek at my high school. I code for some amerature websites, I play a whole bunch of video, watch podcasts like Diggnation, and The Totally Rad Show, and play D&D. Some find it cool, some find it stupid, and most don't care. I'm not a loser, and have many friends (some being girls), and have a lot of outside fun. But I still get people who think I am a loser.
Anyway my question is, is geek now cool, or still considered to be unwanted?
Just curious.
Well obv youre not a "loser" because you do have a social life/friends. You just have the same interests with doorshutters and loners. I play Magic: The Gathering cards with the "geeks" at my school and no one seems to care.
I'm a super geek.
I watch Xfiles, Stark trek, Stargate, im good with computers, making and setting up havn't delved into c++, i'm a forum whore but inbetween all this im still one of the "popular kids" at school/college due to my views/actions :>
Dun think being a geek matters anymore, noone really cares and theres plenty hot geek chicks.

Being a geek is only bad when youre in highschool or something. I guess in college people dont care about it that much. And not at all in post-college life.
The activities/interests of a "geek" has never been the problem, it's the anti-social and awkward behaviour. For this reason I don't think that being a "geek" is ever going to be trendy. If you don't suffer from anti-social and awkward behaviour, then are you a stereotypical "geek"? Not really.
geeks tend to get shunned during high school, but typically get far more acceptable afterwards. meanwhile, all the "cool" kids wind up turning into insurance salesmen.
i would consider myself a geek,i like stargate,startrek,anime,cartoon network,
i play video games and computer games.
but at the same time a can strike up a conversation with a pretty girl or make people laugh.
i dont think being the geek at a high school is that bad anymore, people are just becoming more accepting or they just don't care anymore
