So I know a kid and I considered him a friend until a little incident he pulled yesterday.

Me, him, and another friend were coming back from a basketball game (I drove us up there), and we decided to stop at the mall in a town about an hour and a half away from home. We went to the mall, hung out and had a great time. Just as we were leaving one of the sports stores in the mall he decided that he wanted to go get this shirt that he thought was cool, and he told me and my other friend to just wait in the car and that he'd hurry.

So me and my friend get into the car and wait around for 20 minutes and the kid doesn't come back. I go and look around the whole mall but can't find him anywhere. I went and got my other friend to help me and we looked again, and still no sign of him. So we're walking back to my car when I get a call from his dad saying that he tried to steal a shirt and that he's being sent to a detention center in the town that we're at. So me and my friend had to leave without him.

I've known the kid that tried to steal the shirt since like 5th grade, and I never thought he'd be so stupid to try something like that. What if he had successfully managed to steal the shirt and came out with the cops and security after him and got into our car? I'd probably be sitting in a detention center right now too and my parents would probably never believe me that I'm innocent.

I just thought like sharing this because it was a pretty big thing in my life and I've never thought that this kid would be trouble. He could have stolen things from me and my other friend too and we'd have never known it was him.

People change, I'm afraid. I've known this guy from th 4th grade, and started hanging out with this group of guys who're a grade higher than me(that is, me, my friend, and these other guys who I got to know initially mainly through him). Well, anyway, now, after a year of hanging out with those guys, they're hanging out with a bunch of bastards and doing weed regularly/smoking. We all started experimenting a while back, but these guys I just hate, and they got my friends hooked. So I'm slowly being detached from them.(the 4th grade friend also being in the school as the other guys. I guess he was my best friend.) Anyway, maybe I just needed to get that off my chest.

And yes, you're lucky the rest of you weren't involved. Else you would all have been accessory/accomplice to the crime (like he runs into the car and you all drive off).
