Periods and the pill

I went to the doctors and asked to go on the pill and everything was fine and dandy

I took my first one the first day of my period and have been taking them at exactly the same time ever since...

It has now been 9 days and I'm still on my period, although it is quite light... I don't want to go to the doctors and waste her time if it's something that's quite normal so,

I was wondering

a) if anyone has had a similar experience, what did you do, how long did it last

and

b) what I should do

Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

That doesn't seem entirely normal, but it could be. It's possible that it's spotting caused by the pill. You just started taking it so obviously your body isn't used to it yet so that could be why. Also, that might not be the right birth control pill for you and maybe that's why it's happening as well.

You should look up the side effects of the particular birth control you're taking and find out more information. Talking to your doctor is also probably a good idea. Even if you don't go in, maybe trying calling and asking.
