I'm pretty sure most anime fans know what this is. For anyone else who's not familiar with the term, it's derived from the novel Lolita by Vladmir Nabokov. In the West, loli/shotacon refers to anime or manga that depicts children in a sexual manner. Children, usually under the age of 13, and usually with someone over the age of 18. In Japan, it can refer to anyone who has a sexual attraction to minors, as well as anime and manga.

"Opponents of illustrated lolicon pornography claim that fictional material encourages viewing children as sex objects and can contribute to actual sexual abuse. However, there is no direct evidence to support these claims of casuality. Despite the fact that most lolicon artwork is produced in Japan, there is no evidence that it has caused an increase of violent crimes against children and teens. The number of reported incidents of crime against children in Japan, as well as violent crime in general, is well below that of most other developed countries.

The key phrase here being "reported incidents." Just because something isn't reported doesn't mean it doesn't happen. And with Japan's culture, it wouldn't surprise me if more sexual crimes didn't go reported then in the West. However...

"Indeed there appears to be a strong correlation between the dramatic rise of pornographic material in Japan from the 1970s onwards, and a dramatic decrease in reported sexual violence, especially crimes involving juveniles and non-impulsive rape cases. This supports the theory that widespread availability of sexually explicit material can in fact reduce the rate of sexual crimes."

The number of reported sexual crime in Japan dropped with the rise of pornographic material. Number of cases involving pedophelia dropped with the advent of lolicon manga and anime. Hmm...

So, what are your thoughts on Lolicon? As far as I know, it's outlawed in the US and a few other countries, but things may have changed. Personally, I think it's sick. But I suppose there are solid arguments in favor of it.

well.. it depends.. like ive seen " lolicon" pictures where its just an underaged girl by herself in like a bathing suit and accidently doing a sexy pose..(this by definition is not lolicon from what i understand, yet it is labeled as lolicon)
but if i come across pictures/ videos showing adults engaging in sexual activities with minors i think its sick and go off the site....
(underaged sex is illegal (from what i know) and most things are illegal without a parents consent lol)

.. well in my experience i have come across both dora the explorer and teentitans ..( i search lolicon and hentai and stuff as research mainly..( because im a mega dork)...)
in my opinion hentai has the ability to satisfy (visual??) needs better than regular porn because they can do any position and you can see some of your favorite characters having sex..

As far as I can see, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it. If it's acted out, or watched in real life, obvi that's not right, but....whatever floats your boat, I suppose. Hentai stories are better, cause you can imagine what it looks like without the gory details (bodily fluids, etc.).
