You say that I'm misrepresenting Him so I'm going to give you what He actually said and I want you to interpret it for me. What does He mean when He says these things?
Jesus said:
Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Jesus said:
Joh 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."
John Writes:
1Jo 5:12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
What does he mean by this?

If you belong to a religion you should never try and convert anybody.
Jesus Said:
Mr 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Was Jesus wrong?
You should respect other religions and see that they all have the ability to help people in their lives and to be loving and kind.
While those people have a right to practice their religion, Christians have a responsibility to warn people about false religions.
Jesus said:
Mt 7:14 "Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Joh 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
If you look at the people who do fight and argue their belief you may find this.
Close minded christians are not ignorant, this is not the cause of their behavior, it is in fact fear.
Actually, those who get upset when a Christian explains God's word are the fearful ones.
The atheists who bash religions all day long, (which happens to be most of them) are not empathic at all. Whatever empathy they do have quickly dissolves in the face of anothe's ignorance. Where close minded god fearing people cling to notions of biblical precedence, the atheists seem to cling to truth that cannot be questioned.
The atheists are just as closed minded. The bible is the truth and is in fact backed by the scientific evidence. Atheists and Creation scientists look at the same evidence, yet draw differing conclusions.
It can be said that those who cling to notions of a 'god' resemble those who cling to a notion of 'not-god'.
The evidence supports God so it's not a blind clinging.
In buddhism we respect EVERYONE's beliefs and that is how it should be, there would be a lot more peace in this world if that was the case. Why does it matter if you are right or wrong?
Because people are spending eternity in hell. It's the most horrible existance imaginable. We are actually in a war for men's souls. False religion is a path to hell. Jesus Christ is the ONLY way to heaven.
Why does it matter if somebody believes in a god or not... it doesn't, what matters is the intention and outcome of the religion
Good intended beliefs land people in hell. I don't want that and I know that the people in hell would do anything to get out.
