Meh, I guess you get pervey people in all places but yeah most people avoid alleyways as it is haha ..
But yeah I live in England too and I'm not sure about the self defense thing :') .. but we don't have loads of cameras on streets and stuffs haha, infact I've never seen one on a street haha
Either way main thing is your girlfriend is fine, don't dwell on it too much.
