Any guys feeling shy?

    • Any guys feeling shy?

I'm climbing out of my shyness, and it hasn't been that easy.

But for some reason, talking to shy people, especially guys (the male psychology is different than the female, therefore we'll have more in common) makes me feel a little bit better.

Just wondering if anyone else feels shy.

I can't say its "sit back and watch everything". Most of my past shyness manifested itself as a fear of saying something stupid, or being seen by other people as somebody uninteresting or as a fool. It's kind of like, I want to say something, but either I don't know what to say, or I think its something stupid to say.

      That's me, as well.

I know I've probably posted all over the forums by now that I've been doing pretty well socially lately-- but I feel like I just had a slight failing, actually no less than an hour ago.

Long story short, I faltered in the face of a large group, and ended up saying nothing-- I wasn't sure what to say. My current strategy for meeting people is to ask questions, make suggestions-- but now I feel the next step is to learn how to BS and small talk, especially with guys AND groups (I find it easier to talk to girls even in groups, which would seem like the opposite attitude for a straight guy).

Not sure why it's so hard with other males, I guess women are just easy.

I have until Saturday/Sunday to get my shit together, because that's when both I and the people I'm trying to befriend are leaving.

      Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm not shy as such cause when I'm with people I know I'm generally okay...although I have come to realise that I don't really have friends and I'm kind of socially inept in real life social situations...one time I was out and a group of like 3 people walked past and they all looked at me and I had an anxiety attack....and I don't really know how to socialise so I come across pretty full on on theninternet....I think it's a bit easier cause people can't give you weird looks and it's just more carefree?? And if people try to talk to me...I kind of freeze up and don't talk or come across as really cold, it's like one extreme to the next for me :/ and I think the only reason I kind of have people I talk to and sit with at school is because they took pity on me and didn't give up when I didn't answer at first....I talk to them now...and I can be pretty open, but I wouldn't really call any of them my friends....one I'm pretty close to and I guess she is the closest thing I have to a real friend...but then that's it for me :( pretty sad huh....and i don't have any guy friends which I find depressing cause I want them...but I just don't know how to socially go about it ya know?? Like I want a really close guy friend whos like just a close guy friend but it's a lot easier said than done :/ so yeah....long story short not so much shy, just completely devoid of social skills and slight people related anxiety :/

I wish I was better at talking with guy friends too. I can talk to women easy, but my fellow man...ugh. I wish I actually knew what to say to them!
