Not sure what to do? (school, life)

    • Not sure what to do? (school, life)

So I am facing a bit of a dilemma right now.

I have been home schooled for the last year and a half, and just went to a new public high school a couple weeks ago.

I absolutely hate school. I know I will not go to college/university, and I just don't see the point in it at all.

The only reason I went is because I wanted to meet more people. Since being home schooled, I really don't have that many friends.

But, after starting at the new school.. I realized that it is pretty tough to make friends in the school environment, plus most of them really aren't the kinds of people I want to be friends with.

I am really into horses, and want to pursue a career in horses. I have a horse of my own, and I want to meet other people who ride. When I'm with someone who also likes horses, I can talk to them non-stop. But, if we don't have similar interests... I just can't find anything to talk about.

So this is my problem. Should I stay at the public high school and try it out for a month.. see how it goes? Maybe I will meet people?
Or, should I drop out (or do online school), and get a job at a horse stable/ranch, and join horse clubs to meet people?

The second option seems the best to me for my future... but then again I don't want to miss out on the whole high school experience. Because, it could be so much fun if I actually knew people at the school. Or, I could go back next year for grade 12 to grad with a class?

Ahh I know noone else can answer my questions for me... I just don't know what to do. :S

You should stay in the public school system for as long as possible! Just think about it like this; once high school is done, your social life will dwindle away. You'll have a few friends but you'll never be in the same environment again! One of the main purposes of school is to advance your social skills for the future, like when you get a job somewhere ;D

Now, I will recommend a book on making friends
'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie helped me push past my anti-friend behavior and opened up a whole new world for me.

Here are some friend making principles that can be found in the book-
      Fundamental Techniques in Handling People:
      Don't criticize, condemn, or complain.
      Give honest and sincere appreciation.
Arouse in the other person an eager want.

Six Ways to Make People Like You
Become genuinely interested in other people.
      Smile.
Remember that a person's name is, to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language.
Be a good listener. Encourage others to talk about themselves.
Talk in terms of the other person's interest.
Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely.

The book expands on so much more than just that! Stay in high school and read this book, you'll be fine bud!
