"power of music"?

    • "power of music"?

for a long time i thought of the whole "power of music" thing that people talk about as total bullshit
sure it expresses emotion and all but i didn't really feel anything from it most of the time
but lately i've started to change my tune*
i've noticed certain songs that can change how i feel about things
there are a couple songs that no matter how shitty my day has been, when i listen to them i just feel about a million times better about life and can even completely turn my day around
what are your opinions on the whole "power of music thing" and do you have any songs like that? if so, which ones and why?
      just wondering....

      *unintentional bad pun is bad

I think 'the power of music' is true to a certain extent. Honestly, music plays a big role in my life. It helps control certain emotions, but also sometimes enhances them. I mean when I get pissed off I ignore the world and listen to screamo. I do this because I blend my music to my emotions. That and thanks to the certain music I listen to, I've made new friends. Ones I can actually relate to. The artists I usually listen to are: Avenged Sevenfold, Aranda, Korn, Skillet, Three Days Grace, Saving Abel, Shinedown, Chevelle, Hollywood Undead, Slash, Ozzy Osborne, Metallica, Bullet for My Valentine, etc.
But I'm not close to perfect. I'm not close to sane. I'm not the one to worship. And I'm not the one to blame.

hmm, not really any of the styles im into but i get your meaning
but for me what i really notice is how certain songs can literally turn a shitty day into a pretty damn good one for me

oddly enough i yet again don't listen to any of those
actually, 90% or so of the music i listen to is fan-music (though its probably better than a lot of the stuff we have today)

Most of the music I listen to is either well-known Rock, Metal, and dubstep music or unknown small, unseen artists who have talent but haven't been discovered. So most people get confused with my music
But I'm not close to perfect. I'm not close to sane. I'm not the one to worship. And I'm not the one to blame.

I do think music has a power. My imagination and motivation runs wild when I listen to music and it just makes you feel better. It helps me concentrate by blocking out the world too. :) Music can seriously change my mood and it's sort of an addiction. If somethings addictive then it must be having a huge positive effect on you.
I can't find my iPod though which is really upsetting me. :(

So you don't believe that music has power but it you admit that it can change your mood and it's addictive...

The term "power" means "the ability to do something or act in a particular way", sooo.

Every time I listen to The Old Prince by Shad I become a self conscious ass hole named Jeff.
I'd say music is pretty fucking powerful. :xx:
