Regarding Dieting when being Diabetic

    • Regarding Dieting when being Diabetic

If you have Diabetes Type 1 or Type 2, don't try to lose weight on your own! You must work closely with your doctor or diabetes educator - because while you're dieting, your blood sugar, insulin, and medications need special attention.

Insulin is a natural hormone found in the body which some people like me are deficient of, which is why we have to inject a correct amount of insulin into our bodies morning and evening, or in some cases, midday included. Not eating enough will cause diabetic hypoglycemia, even skipping or postponing a meal. Diabetic hypoglycemia happens very quickly, often without warning and within a minute you can be sweating and feeling very sleepy, shaky and disorientated. Even increasing exercise or physical activity without eating sufficiently or adjusting your medications can cause a "hypo", so it extremely important to consult a medical practitioner before starting ANY diet.
