Why is it that when you have been doing something for a while but then try to stop its really hard? Do you think that sometimes it better to just stop trying and keep doing it?

Not if it's unhealthy or a bad habit.
I've noticed that bad habits are harder to break than good habits (or maybe it's just that we don't usually try to break good habits).
It's worth the effort to try. I find that substituting a bad habit with another action helps me get out of bad habits. -

I guess it comes down to whether it hurts you or not, either now or in the future. If it does, it might be better to follow your parents and teacher's advice.

It doesn't hurt me and if I keep it secret mostly no one knows. Like this year I have only been found out 12 times and that's not many times. I did try to sop last holidays but it didn't work and now that its the holidays again I am wondering if I stop try to stop doing it.

It is very important to develop the habit of not skipping classes at a college or university, because education is very important, it's just that not everyone is aware of it.
