Who else is in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program at their school?

Because it's grown to be a pain for me and I need some sympathy. :confused:

What I mainly want to know is if my amount of work, and slippage of grades is

normal.

I don't understand it!

I used to be a straight A student and now I actually have a F! (In spiral math, which is a combination of Geometry, and Algebra 2)

As for the IB1 IB2 question, I had no idea there was a 1 and 2.

Iceman, what are the benefits of it? I've been in it for a year now and it's just looking
to be a waste.

We have it at our school, but I am not a diploma candidate. I only take one IB class, English. The overall consensus from the students in our school is that IB sucks. Due to budget tightening, it might even be eliminated next year.

He's talking about IB HL and SL levels.

I'm not Iceman, but I graduated with an IB Diploma and a score of 41/45. It's not a waste if you put effort into it, and it serves as rigorous preparation for college.

Really, college-level classes are even harder...so IB serves as an useful foundation and will prepare you for the pressure later on...

Yea, that's what I was hoping.

I thought that if my college application were to hint that I dropped out of IB colleges

might think If she can't stay in IB how can she ever handle college?

It might give you some leverage, but they can't just reject you because of that. But then again, you really never find out why they accept or reject you.

It's a coin toss, but a competitive admission process..

Well, IB really prepares you for college. Some of the courses are even very close to college level Very close. The IB programme really only has 2 years that count. IB1 and IB2. The last years you take before college/university. My school only has IB1, IB2 and pre-IB (preperatory year), but some IB schools have several years before that too.

IB also serves as an international diploma. It's VERY useful when you want to study abroad. It's also a very prestigous programme, so if you do well colleges/universities will look at your application a bit better than if you had a normal high school diploma.

I'm in a "bad" IB school though. As in it's one of the lower ones. Doesn't mean the teachers and classes aren't good, but there just aren't as many options as in other IB schools. And the IB here is actually tought in a non-IB school. Though that is common, the programme here is very small.

I think I know what you mean. They say IB doesn't officially start till my junior year. So I can see how Junior = IB1 and Senior = IB2.
I just think it's kinda crappy that even if you go through IB, you don't get a IB diploma unless you pass all those exams at the end of your junior and senior years.

If you don't get a diploma, you get a certificate.

If you fail to get a diploma, you get the IB certificate. At least this is what the protocol for the real IB program.

Cus (a) it's good practice for college and (b) you'll still credit for completing it?

Yes. And you could have just done something completely different than IB until your junior and senior year. Though you would probably be overwhelmed going into the last 2 years without preparation.

I just noticed my grades dropping and I knew that wasn't good.
