Child Abuse, how would you handle it?

i'm an expectant mummy and have been thinking recently about how i'm going to protect my child. from what i know when i was turning three i was sexually assualted by a cult leader and the memories and nightmares have haunted me since and now i'm pretty damaged (both mentally and physically).
i don't know if there are any others here who have been through child abuse, but the question is this...
if you discovered your child was/is being abused how would you act/react? :confused:

Be there for my child when they need me..

But I'll try to reason it out if I can - the older and older it gets. Not that I'd expect it to work.

My sister was once fondled by a piano teacher man, around age 7. Of course, immediately a message in his answering machine was left to not come back again and that we're done with.

But I don't think my Mom has done much after that. Well, nothing at all.

i can relate to child abuse pretty well
thus, why i live on my own
if i were you, i would hold your child close, and let them know how much that you love them, and that you would protect them, and never let anyone hurt them
get them checked out at a clinic or something, just to make sure they are ok
and maybe go to the authorities
but mainly
love them, let them know they will be ok, and be there for them as much as you can

make sure they know what is right from wrong. when u are very young u dont netessarily know if something is wrong... so i guess if theyre aware of it, they will know to tell u.

were kinda the same..
um, im raisning my son to know right from wrong.. i guess hes only 1 though im sure hee doesnt get it yet, im gonna make sure he respects people and treats others right i spose thats all you can do and hope to god he or she understands that abuse is wrong.

.. If I found out my future child was getting abused ?
Beat the living daylights out of the person who did it.

But i'd be close to the child, hoping they know if something did happen they could come to me, and tell me.

First thing, I'd want to know who'd done it. Second, I would want to hurt him/her in safety for my child. Say if I had a child, I'd do everything I can to make sure that my child's safety is protected.
