Legaliziation of Marijuana

    • Re: Legaliziation of Marijuana

      No.

Weed is bad for the sperm count, which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering humanity is well, stupid, but it's also bad for the lungs and some parts of the brain. It's also bad for your blood pressure, sodium levels, and so on because it makes you want to eat so much.

Plus, it makes you like "Whoaaa maaan" so it'd be bad for people in public places. If you get super stoned and drive, it's pretty much a guaranteed wreck if going somewhere with other actual cars on it.

I have a brother whom is a pothead, and I did my research, and well just no.

One group of of these people has a valid reason to want weed legalized. Which one do you think it is?

Go watch "Super High Me" ; After 17 years of constant Marijuana-use, the person who starred in this film, only lost roughly 2% Lung Capacity. That's great compared to a smoker of, lets say Tobacco.

Well, I would love to see someone who has just smoked a blunt, and attempts to drive. People that aren't used to the mild feeling of Marijuana would be lucky to start the car, let alone drive on the road (those are the type of people that you see going 10-15 MPH under the speed limit)

Most people drive just fine under the influence of Marijuana. When someone who has just smoked, or is smoking have been pulled over by a Police Officer, it's usually for something other than their driving (I.E; Busted tail light, running stop sign, etc)

I drive fine when I'm high, I just experience that I'm more aware when I'm behind the wheel.

Oh, Marijuana is... Bad for you? Show me a case where a Patient with lets say... A very violent Cancer. They are prescribed a prescription of Marijuana to stimulate the cells that are known as Cancer. Where as one person with a more aggressive condition may need Marijuana to calm down. Most people drive just fine under the influence of Marijuana. When someone who has just smoked, or is smoking have been pulled over by a Police Officer, it's usually for something other than their driving (I.E; Busted tail light, running stop sign, etc)
I've seen lots of people suck at driving when high, so not always the case.

Wrong. Everyone I know can drive stoned, they are just to lazy to wanna drive. Actually, I drive better stoned if anything.. I end up going the normal speed limit and am a careful driver. Dude, there are even surveys that show that when THC is detected in the blood, alcohol is almost always detected as well.

Also, moderate smoking of marijuana appears to pose minimal danger to the lungs. Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains a number of irritants and carcinogens. But marijuana users typically smoke much less often than tobacco smokers, and over time, inhale much less smoke. As a result, the risk of serious lung damage should be lower in marijuana smokers. There have been no reports of lung cancer related solely to marijuana, and in a large study presented to the American Thoracic Society in 2006, even heavy users of smoked marijuana were found not to have any increased risk of lung cancer. Unlike heavy tobacco smokers, heavy marijuana smokers exhibit no obstruction of the lung's small airway. That indicates that people will not develop emphysema from smoking marijuana.

As for brain damage, none of the medical tests currently used to detect brain damage in humans have found harm from marijuana, even from long term high-dose use. An early study reported brain damage in rhesus monkeys after six months exposure to high concentrations of marijuana smoke. In a recent, more carefully conducted study, researchers found no evidence of brain abnormality in monkeys that were forced to inhale the equivalent of four to five marijuana cigarettes every day for a year. The claim that marijuana kills brain cells is based on a speculative report dating back a quarter of a century that has never been supported by any scientific study.

You my friend, are the ignorant one if you think weed is a good thing. You're obviously a pothead yourself. Go do some research and then come back. Marijuana, like cigarettes causes cancer. Sometimes it contains more cancer causing chemicals than cigarettes. And at least when you smoke cigarettes, your not killing brain cells. And even though smoking cigarettes endanger other peoples lives, weed does it in more ways. Are you getting the point? They aren't good for. Or anyone else around you for that matter.

I don't care how ignorant you think I am. At least I'm smart enough to know that weed isn't doing anything good for this society. All it's gonna do is double the death rates. Right up there with drunk driving and texting and driving.
    • Re: Legaliziation of Marijuana

Oh, and fyi, in 1995 research editors of the British medical journal Lancet concluded that "the smoking of cannabis, even long term, is not harmful to health." this was based on 30 years of research.

As a former pothead, I believe marijuana is a dangerous drug that can lead to weight gain, laziness, loss of brain cells, loss of determination, and etc. based on amount of usage.

However, I think it should be legalized because:

1.) We can tax it and make a killing.

2.) Alcohol is more dangerous, yet it is legal and marijuana is not.

3.) Just because it's legal doesn't mean everything is going to do it. If anything, it will slowly over time become a social taboo like cigarettes.

Marijuana isn't going away anytime soon unless we legalize it. It needs to follow the history of cigarettes for it to be in the spotlight, and for that to happen, it needs to be legalized.

Edit: Sarah is correct when saying driving while stoned has little to no effect on your driving. If anything, it makes you focus more because you are paranoid of swerving.

      I think I'm in love.

By the way, the ONLY study of Marijuana use in the USA (That was released to the Public) was the study of Monkeys smoking 30 joints a day, for so many days.

What the Doctors who did the experiments, didn't tell us, is that they suffocated the moneys with a Gas mask (or something in the bias), so they were suffocated.

Suffocation = Dead brain cells. Which explains the autopsy of the Monkey's brain showed so many dead brain cells,.

Really because I already mentioned that.... If you weren't you would have read my recent post. But you know, weed will do that to you.

I have a cousin who smokes pot and he's changed DRASTICALLY. He used to be a great football player, fun do be around, and he actually sounded like he had an IQ. Now he's a irritating troublemaker with no life. He talks SOOOO DUUUMMMMB. And it makes it even worse when he talks loud. Now I kinda dread being around him because he's gotten so annoying.

I also know this kid who started out smoked weed and graduated to heavier stuff like cocaine. ANOTHER negative effect of weed.
