  • Quote from NinjaGuy1337: “ Murder: The crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought (Merriam Webster)” The point he made is that it's not actually a person. (Edit: Sorry, late reply.) If I ever got pregnant I'd never have an abortion, but I'm also out of high school and would be ready to deal with it. I don't want it to happen, but if it did I'd keep it. As much as making everyone "deal with the consequences" would be an ideal, in some situations it may just be better…

I have a friend that did that, wore glasses with non-prescription lenses because she liked the way they looked. And they did actually look really good! If you think you look better with glasses, go for it. I'm supposed to wear glasses but I hate them, so it's weird to me that you'd want to wear them at all. :p But it's not weird in the sense that it's unusual - there are definitely plenty of people in the same boat.

  • I've never been through it, but my guess is that you'll just have to work to find some sense of balance. I don't see why having contact with your birth mom would be sacrificing your family - they're still you're family. You should probably tell them that you met your birth mom, but explain your reasons for doing so. It's perfectly legitimate to want to meet your biological mother, and it doesn't mean you love your adoptive family any less. Your birth mother gave you up and understands you have a…

  • Quote from Dr.Carter: “ Either that, or actually fight her. I've been promised by numerous girls that a fight is soon to go down, but then it never happens. I've given up hope, and come to the sobering realization that unless there is some money involved, girls probably won't fight...” Really! I've seen it happen a couple times. It gets pretty nasty. There wasn't any money involved, but there might have been alcohol... :o Anyway, I'm with pretty much everyone else - it's just something you'll ha…

  • I know it seems bad right now, but losing a football game isn't the worst thing that could happen to you. I hate losing more than anything so I can understand why everyone would be upset. I also know it's it's exceptionally frustrating to play your heart out and not have it be good enough. Do you think your team put forth the same effort? Were you just not practiced enough? Or was the other team just that good? The first two things you can do something about - talk to your team, be the one to te…

  • I don't need any forum cash since he's helped you already, but I thought I should throw in this link. It shows you how to do the orbital diagrams. The number of arrows you draw corresponds to the number of electrons, each orbital has two arrows, and each group of blocks is always filled with up arrows before you begin filling it with down arrows. users.stlcc.edu/gkrishnan/electron3.html Remembering this will also be a saviour on exams: fillingOrder_2.gif The superscript you write in refers to th…

I'd never spend money on them at all. They're so easy to win or just straight up get for free, companies always give them out. I have so many backpacks/totes/messenger bags it's ridiculous.

  • I understand what you're trying to say, I'm just not sure why an animal would have to die what you feel is a "good" death, when it doesn't care at all how "good" it's death is. Why your feelings over theirs? Just because pain is a constant doesn't mean we should intentionally cause it, it's supposed to be there there as a mechanism to tell us that something is harmful and that we should avoid it. Just because some people find it meaningful to try and overcome or fight through pain doesn't mean a…

  • Okay, some of the quotes contain two different posts in them but I thought it was most convenient to reply that way. Sorry for the long post. Quote from dusk: “I think though that to kill something, and sell it or eat it, you should have to earn it. That means hunting it, or at the least doing it by hand, because honestly i don't think the world cares enough to just stop eating meat all together, much less selling it, with that in mind the people who continue to do that should feel their actions…

I think the scrapbook is a great idea, everyone has given good suggestions and plus there are tons of guides online or scrapbooking magazines that are available. If she's going away to university I'm assuming she won't be living at home, so in a residence or apartment or something instead. If that's the case you could get her something useful for when she moves - does she like cooking? Is it cold where she's going? Does she like shoes or certain brands of clothing? Stuff to think about!

  • Get her number, text her, and maybe talk to her between classes if you see her in the hallway. Do you both go to parties or anywhere else on weekends where you could hang out with her?

I think that'd actually be considered underweight. You're only 13 so your body is probably going to be going through a lot of changes. If you haven't hit puberty yet you probably will soon, and you'll likely gain a bit of weight then which is fine. Don't worry so much about your weight and concentrate on being healthy - the easiest way to keep it within an "acceptable" range.

I don't know why they would think that, but I don't know much about what freemasons believe, anyway. I won a scholarship from them last year and had to go accept it at one of their meetings. It was kind of strange, while we were waiting this guy stayed with us and said "Feel free to ask questions!", but I asked him about this thing hanging from the roof and he's like "I can't discuss that with you.", or something. I accepted my award then had to leave because I wasn't allowed to hear the rest of…

  • Yeah, I hate how I'm already like "back in my day..." I don't think swearing is really an issue because I know a lot of my friends did when we were little. Not as openly, and it was kind of a big deal when people did it, but it still happened. My issue with them is more like, respect and well being. They all seem significantly braver, meaner, lazier, and more dependent. When I was little we feared and respected the older kids. When I was in grade 11 I went over to the elementary school with my f…

I played bass clarinet in band and trombone in jazz band, and though I've never actually taken lessons or anything, I know the notes on the piano and can read music so I can play really simple stuff on that too. I wouldn't call myself a musician, just a quick learner. :p I'd never be good enough for it to be a really serious thing.

I don't think you're being made into a bad guy just because you're not being noticed (unless I've read this wrong). Just because people aren't quoting your posts or addressing you directly doesn't mean they're not reading them. I'm sure lots of people feel or have felt like that, especially when they were new. If we didn't post because of that, there'd be no forum!

  • Quote from jordan132: “you could add some chocolate chips and this whole thread would be Moot :o” Damn, that'd be delicious. And man guys, the homemade oreos are amazing. You can just make the cookies using cake mix and then get some simple cream cheese icing, or whatever. So easy!

  • All of this is very obviously bothering you, and you need to have a discussion about it with your mom if it's ever going to change. Wait until she's sober and don't bring it up during an argument; find a time when you're both calm. In the meantime, try not to fight back. Swearing at her isn't going to help. Quote from _Jack_: “ Me: "Because I'm recovering at a major rate and I'm doing good? I said the same to you, so why bring this up now? Trying to start an argument?". ” The part that I bolded …

  • You'd be surprised how many other teenagers there are that are just like you. Lots of people enjoy and take comfort in being alone. There's no reason to be afraid, just remember that there's many people who are in your shoes, and if you muster up the courage to just go and start talking to someone they might really appreciate your bravery, especially when you're new to high school. Just try talking to the people that you hang out with when you party, or find some people in your foreign languages…
