  • A lot of people in my life smoke, and all of them have tried and failed to quit at least once. The only promises my dad has ever broken are his promises to stop smoking. These kinds of people aren't weak. They're addicted. I'm not justifying their original mistake of starting smoking. I'm just saying that the concept of "quitting" is a lot more difficult than nonsmokers realize.

Quote from DamnImGood: “ Leave. That would be a start. If they really want to help stabilize and rebuild the country, they would stop sending in troops and rockets and instead send in teachers, doctors, lawyers, construction workers, etc. to rebuild. Lead by example. Instead of forcing your will upon the people, show them you're compassionate. ” I agree that troops shouldn't be the focus of stabilization: that's contralogical. I would love to bring back every last soldier from the desert. The pr…

You know, I take my previous post back. The biggest mistake in US history was letting you anywhere near a keyboard because between Osabindin and numours, I can't understand anything you are typing.

Joe, I think you're referring to Osama Bin Laden. The United States has made many big mistakes. It just happens to be that this is a mistake you are alive to experience.

  • I'm straight edge, so these are just my views on others: Smoking: Smoking is a personal choice, and I am a firm believer in a person's right to choose their lifestyle. I would never try to pressure someone into quitting because they've probably heard it all before. I'd prefer that people smoke away from me, though. Drinking: People have been drinking booze for a very long time, and there's really no harm in drinking responsibly. If you think it through and make sure you don't put yourself in a c…

It's interesting that people focus so much on the beginnings of the war. Sure, why it started is important, but right now the question is how it can be ended. There's a conflict between the destabilization of Iraq that has occured since the beginning of the war and the need for the region to function on its own.

@yayitsjoe Speaking of redundancy, Dezer already corrected the word usage mistake. @top Some of ADTR's music is okay, but I can't say I'm a "fan".

  • I have a friend is involved with Satanism (I say "involved" because I'm not sure how in to it she is) and I have to say that the ideas presented by this are intriguing. I believe that one of the best ways to prove your solid belief in a religion or system of beliefs is to study others. However, I also believe that it is inappropriate to insult or demean others based on generalizations.

I agree with Alucard. People get hung up on the idea of intelligent life without considering the possibility that said intelligent life may be something beyond our comprehension. It's important to realize that our perceptions sculpt our speculations. In this case, when a person thinks "alien", they take ideas and images from around them and adapt them to their ideas. Every alien in popular culture has roots in something found on Earth. Also, what exactly is "intelligent life"? What qualifies som…
