I can't say this enough - have you tried talking to them? If you explain your position the way you've explained it here, they may be more understanding. Ask them what you can do to help around the house, and if they tell you how they want it to be done, your mom can't really complain about the way you did it, can she?

Talk to her, and tell her how you're feeling. If you guys are as close as you seem to have been in the past, I don't see why she would object to making time for you once she realizes you miss her and want to be around her again. If you've been avoiding her, she might've been getting mixed messages about what you want out of the friendship.

I think you handled the situation very well. Your parents are most likely just worried about you - they know the influence friends can have on you and probably worry that you're doing drugs as well. My best advice would be to talk to them about it; tell them that you didn't do any drugs and that you took care of the situation to the best of your abilities.

It's hard to talk to people about depression when they don't understand it. Something they should know is that depression can affect anyone - not just someone with a ton of obvious problems. If you need to talk to anyone, I'm here as well. :]
