Quote from Poo-tee-weet?: “not only are they recognized as a domestic terrorist organization by the CIA” I wouldn't take accusations of terrorism seriously from the CIA unless there was other evidence. Quote from Poo-tee-weet?: “they have been responsible for firebombing numerous research labs and the homes of researchers.” Source? I'm just being sceptical. PETA is worthy of criticism, I'm sure. Many animal-rights groups are to some degree or another. But I'd just want to see evidence that they …

As an ideal, I'd love to have killed all the meat I've eaten myself. That's ultimately the only way to be certain that the animal was killed quickly in a humane manner, as I do feel slightly uncomfortable otherwise, regardless of what the law is, because I would imagine many slaughterhouses would still be pretty grim places with regard only for the bare minimum of the law. Though I was pondering this earlier today: As many carnivorous animals kill their prey in far more inhumane ways than we eve…

My mum had breast cancer as well. At the time, I was too young and carefree to see it as anything more than just an illness that was surely to get better because that's what illnesses do, right? I guess I was fortunate in that respect. She did recover though. The time to come will be tough, but take reassurance from the fact that these days, if I remember the statistic rightly, 8/10 breast cancer cases are cured. Those are very good odds. Re: Linkin Park
PostNo, I don't like them. But I'll try to give their new stuff a listen if it's so different.

Leaving aside the dead weight of subjectivity that hangs from statements like these, I'll simply say that social changes can only fully be comprehended when the generation in question has passed away, or is at least old.

Quote from alfaspider06: “6). Human life is sacred... This is more of a philsopical debate that I don't want to get into right now...” Well, why not? Philosophy offers one of the best ways to establish pure truth regardless of worldly constructs or presumptions, which then offers an excellent foundation upon which to build good ethics or policy.

Re: Politics
PostQuote from SubtleInFiction: “I'm Liberal Democrat. But I'm English. I know quite a few of you on here are American. Not too sure how your political system works over there.” Essentially, they have two parties: The Republicans and the Democrats. The Democrats like government a little more than the Republicans, and the Republicans like international intervention a little more than the Democrats.
