I am a moderate economically, but very liberal on social issues. I would probably align myself more with the Social Democrats of the world today. Lukla basically said everything I could better than I would, but the interesting thing about this thread is the fact you've generalized every Catholic and held them to unrealistic standards. Everyone interprets religion in a different way and to different extents.

Like I stated two posts ago, I understand your point. I never said anything to the contrary of it or even disagreed. I was bringing up a different approach for the sake of discussion. I, personally, couldn't care less if God's name is in the pledge or on our currency. I don't think its fair to throw every Christian under the same banister due to the nature of some malicious members.

Its interesting to note that almost all of the best arguments for God rely on faith or trust, as opposed to proof or research.

Separation of church and state isn't mentioned in any of the documents, its a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to describe the 1st Amendment. Just throwing that out for reference.

Try to be more compassionate. Feign interest if you have to, as long as it makes your friends happy. If they're happy, you should be. Try smiling more and always seem interested in what they say. These are key to growing compassion.
