Eyes do actually tend to get worse. I have been told that if I refuse to wear my glasses I will go blind, and so I stopped wearing them as a test kind of thing and now when I dont have them on, I can't see very well at all.. I believe my doctor told me I am almost legally blind without them.

I think you should look for things to do that make you happy or find a way to challenge yourself. You say your girlfriend drives you crazy?
