PostExcess sugar can cause liver damage. There are many reasons to avoid sugar, including the fact that it inhibits your immune system. And the aspartame-sweetened drinks aren't much better side effect-wise. Edit: Oh, and also, since it's usually fructose they put in the drinks, research has shown that insulin resistance is a problem. So happy days!

We seriously need a sticky for gaining/losing weight. Take your weight x20, eat that many calories, or find a calculator online for your maintenance calories and just add 500 or to whatever gets you gaining weight. Also, if you aren't doing weight training, I'd suggest doing that, unless your goal is to just gain weight and don't care if it's fat or muscle. And to track your calories use something like fitday, unless you have magical powers. Edit: Also, if you could give us an idea of your daily…
