I don't get the huge craze over it. The characters were written pretty good but no where near as great as people make them out to be. The main character was a painfully generic "tough guy". It was a pretty good movie, but Academy Award winning worthy? No.
The Hurt Locker

I thought it was great. The movie was rigidly suspenseful and the message behind the movie was eerily realistic.
-
You mean how people get "addicted to war"? That wasn't targeted at Call of Duty fans.
-
I really liked it, but I agree that it's a bit hyped up. I saw it a while ago and I don't remember it very well, only bits and pieces. But since people are so touchy about war right now and the whole situation kind of applies to the world right now, it was a good time to release it - no wonder there's such a huge craze.

i liked the movie but i hated the main character.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm also kind of pissed that it beat the phenomenon that is Avatar in the Academy Awards. The Hurt Locker was really nothing more special than a good blockbuster.

i havent seen it, i believe it never was released in mexican cinemasHold on to your kite =D

And I thought it was fucked the guy chose war over his family.
I don't think its really that he 'chose', but i think its more like he didn't know anything else. After being deployed for so long, many soldiers find it hard to get back to their homes, reconnect with their wives and children. Some seek to get away and leave it all behind, not to worry about it. Another thing is that they don't really know anything else. Army is their whole life, its like taking a soldier and telling him to do a desk job, it just doesn't work.
Anyways, I loved the movie. I feel like some people may not understand it as well if you don't know someone in the Army. For me, it helped me get a better understanding of what my boyfriend would be going through, how sometimes its not really a choice to go back, and how adjustments are when they come home. I was thrilled that it beat Avatar, it has a lot more meaning to it. Like another person said, its eery how close to actual war they got it to be.

if i was married to kate i'd never go to war

you do realize avatar had no plot and was nothing more than a huge money grab right? the visuals were amazing but there really wasn't much other than that. it was pocahontas in space.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yeah, they totally made a move with no plot. -

okay, let me rephrase; they made a movie void of an original plot that would interest anyone over the age of 16. it's still pocahontas in space.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

the plot was simple, which was necessary to explore the world they created. a complex mind blowing plot with the beautiful world they created would have been too much. and you have a harry potter sig, so you saying it shouldn't interest anyone over 16 is hardly an insult lol

Its just a story man, They just want to show you what its like out there, for them, the bomb deposal experts! mannnn im fucked.

retellings of famous stories make for bad movies? I think not!fuck. -
I didn't think it was that great to be honest. I fell asleep half way through. Just not my type of movie I guess. I enjoyed District 9 more.

District 9 was the best movie of the year. Heavy Sci-fi stuff doesn't get enough appreciation even though District 9 dealt with the discrimination theme in one of the most brilliant and ironic ways i've ever seen. Fuck The Hurt Locker and Avatar, D9 was the shit. -

I didn't really like it. The movie just kind of ended. There was no climax or anything like that. Constant build up then... the credits.
THIS A THOUSAND TIMES. When it ended all I could say is, "What the fuck." -
To be honest, as much as I disagreed with the guy's choice of leaving his family for war, the movie did have a fitting ending. It was completely relative to the overall theme and message of the movie.
-
I liked it, but ya, It felt like it kinda just ended. I dont remember it as well as I would like.
