Can't remember where that viral chick thread went

    • Re: Can't remember where that viral chick thread went

Omg I can't believe how quickly things blow out of proportion. Some people just shouldn't be allowed on the internet lol.
It is scary how people found her home address though, I would be so worried if that kinda thing happened to me.
For an 11 year old she really does have a foul mouth :S I swear I was a lot more of an innocent 11 year old :S.
I dunno why people make stupid videos like that, it's like.. get a life.

      The update is madddddd

Update: A spokeswoman for the Marion County, Florida sheriff's department confirms that they are investigating a case regarding an 11-year-old girl with details that closely matches Jessi Slaughter's story. However, the Sheriff's office says that they're only investigating allegations that there are pornographic photos of her online. "Basically we're just investigating if these pictures do actually exist," the spokeswoman says. They're also looking into prank calls to Jessi's house that have referenced the alleged photos.

And the death threats Jessi's mom told us about? "There have been no death threats or threats of harm in any way" towards Jessi, according to the spokeswoman.

We've personally seen provocative images splashed on 4chan's /b/ message board for users to mock—some that might even border on child porn. Users have also repeatedly mentioned nude pictures of Jessi, though who knows if that's legit since 4chan users are completely anonymous and will say anything to shock.

I feel guilty when I put it into perspective, but the autotune remix is so cash.

So why does she among all the other stupid kids on youtube get this shit? She doesn't deserve it, and you're implying she does for posting some videos. That's utter bullshit.

She should have stopped when the shit started hitting the fan. If people were mocking her, then shutting down her youtube channel and stop posting any further would have made it die down and stop.
Her parents should have been looking properly at what she was doing online, anyway.

She's 11. When I was 11 and someone made fun of me online, I cried too. How does any of this make her stupid for not ignoring them? SHE'S 11. Can I say it again? She's 11. When you were 11 did you ignore whoever made fun of you? Come on, you probably didn't. It doesn't make it her fault that she was upset and 4chan loved it. That doesn't mean she deserves anything.

When I was 11 I actually had a life and I didn't spend my life posting and using youtube (it didn't even exist then).
The only site I actually visited was the MSN chatrooms and that was with my sister (who was 16) next to me.

As I said, if parents and her had stopped it before it turned ugly (why did her dad consent to her uploading the video of her crying?? what help would that do??) there wouldn't have been an issue.
Her parents should have looked at what she was doing online that was making her sad and stopped it. How does threatening these people ever help? It doesn't.

As I said before- you put shit on the internet, you get it back. Making more stupid videos after getting harassed was the dumbest thing she and her parents did.

Why? Why should she have had to shut down her channel? Just because people talked shit doesn't mean she had to shut it down, that's ridiculous.
Just because you might think an 11 year old has no place on youtube doesn't mean her parents don't. I only saw one video, so I haven't seen the slutty clothes and stuff, but that also isn't Youtube. My personal belief is that swearing is just words, so who cares if people swear? Maybe her parents thought the same?

Yes she should have access and yes she should be able to upload videos, I am not denying that.
Sure she can make videos- my friend's 11 year old sister does too. But I think (and I am not saying my opinion is the right opinion) making videos that make the situation worse was the worst thing she could have done. Giving fuel to the fire.

If it's starting to get out of control, as you can see in this vid ([ame='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWnOjm2Z4Uc&feature=related']YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/ame] -> not her original one, I can't find it), what does she and her parents expect to happen? The 4chan people to shut up and go away? Of course they wouldn't.

Saying "you have ruined my life" makes forum trolls happy about what they've done. Why would they stop now?

It should have been shut down when it got too hard to handle. Sure if someone swore at my videos on youtube I'd ignore it, but if it got to the stage where she was crying and visibly upset, then action should have been taken.

Now see this BUGS THE HELL out of me. You had a life? And she doesn't? Why not? Because it's not your ideal life? Why do people say "get a life" when they really mean "live life the way I want you to because the way you do it now is not cool according to my standards." Don't even. You're not her. Don't compare yourself to someone just because they do things differently than you.

      What?
I'm saying that I didn't use youtube. I went to bed at 9. I only used the internet for an hour a day, if that.
I am not saying my life is the ideal life, where the hell did you get that from?!
I am simply saying I didn't spend hours making videos about myself and my life, and thus I didn't get any haters.

I'm not going to deny her dad was an idiot and was enabling the problem by saying "we're gonna call the police!" but if she wanted to post some annoying videos it was her god damn right.

Exactly- that's my main problem. She wouldn't be in the shit she is in now if her parents had actually taken some responsibility.
    • Re: Can't remember where that viral chick thread went

Of course she has a right to the internet, but what I am saying is that it was pretty stupid of both her and her father to upload videos and continue to upload videos once shit started.

      [ame='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jOmYq3lh_E&feature=player_embedded']YouTube- Broadcast Yourself.[/ame]

No wonder she got a tidlewave of abuse.

I don't have any problem with her uploading videos in the first place, but my problem was that the situation wasn't stopped when it could have been stopped.
Her youtube channel is down now, which is good, but the whole thing could have easily been avoided.

By "get a life", I meant that there are far better and more productive things she could have done instead of uploading videos about her "perfect" life.

You're taking what I said wrong. All I said was if she wanted to make annoying videos, that is her god. damn. right.

She posted them on youtube and according to their policies youtube is a PG-13 website. And she is only 11 which means she doesn't have the right to post videos on youtube.

It doesn't necessarily make her less worthy, but it is her fault and she should accept the blame.

The whole thing could have been stopped if she simply ignored the 4chan people. By uploading more vids, she gave them what they want (attention), thus giving them pleasure and adding fuel to the fire, making the whole situation worse.

It is her fault that people are acting like immature cunts and threatening her whilst posting her contact information online? I think not. She is an 11 year old. Her "opponents" are hundreds of people that are likely quite a bit older than her. I am truly disgusted by people who think that what has happened to her is entirely her fault. Just because some little kid whined on YT does not mean we all cannot shut the fuck up and not harass her.
