Hey forum...
Just got back an hour ago from school, where I wrote my LO (Life Orientation) exam.
One of the things we had to study was the basics South African constitution. But when it came to sexual activity, the age of consent for heterosexual sex is 16, but apparently, for homosexual sex, it is -- wait for it -- 19!!!!!!!
What.......The........Fuck!
How do people think, honestly? So you can not consent to homosexual sex at 16, but you can for heterosexual sex. It's not like you can get potentially pregnant having sex with a girl at 16, right?
I fail to see the logic in that. And legally, you are an adult at 18, so I don't see why it is an extra year.
You can smoke at 16.
You can drink at 18.
You can have STRAIGHT sex at 16.
But for gay sex, 19.
I find this ironic because South Africa is suppose to be one of the most liberal countries in the world, because we were one of the first countries to legalize gay marriage. But come on! 19!
This is bullshit. I'm sorry.
What do you guys think?
