Missed period

    • Re: Missed period

Can you give us an estimate of how long ago that was?
      Did you use protection?
These are a few questions you need to ask.

I think you should get a pregnancy test to be on the safe side. There's no harm in it, and it can only help. We can't tell you if you're pregnant or not, but the test can.

      Hello Adicto.

Okay - you're very late for your period, and you have recently had sex with a guy. I think that the worst problem that you could have right now, which would also be the most sensible prediction concerning what the problem might be, is that you have fallen pregnant. However, this cannot be certain, and you are not to worry yet.

At the age of sixteen things like this can happen. Periods can be missed simply because you are growing up and your body is changing. I know I have missed a few periods on some occasions in the past, and it turned out to be fine. As well as this, it could be due to a lack of essential nutrients in your diet. I have also had occasions when I have not eaten enough for a long time (I had an eating disorder at the time), and this caused my periods to stop too.

Your first step is to find out whether or not you have fallen pregnant. You need to purchase a pregnancy test, probably found most commonly in a nearby chemist. I hear that some normal stores also have them but just go to a chemist/pharmacy to make it easier. Read the instructions CAREFULLY. If not done correctly, pregnancy tests can be very misleading. The next step comes no matter what the test says. See a doctor. If you a pregnant s/he will be able to find out how far you are, and help you with whatever you may need. If you are not pregnant, they will be able to find a reason for you not being pregnant, and perhaps give you something to help, or put you in touch with a specialist who can.

      You must get this sorted.

Huggles and lots of love from Anya :)

Whether or not it is awkward to buy it is not a relevant factor here hun. You gotta just pluck up the courage and do it, that's all there is to is. Also, your parents aren't gonna find out easily. Tell them you're going out with a friend or something. Get it, go home with it in your bag. Not the store's own bag. Take your own with you. Go to the toilet and take it. If they ask, you only went to the toilet for normal stuff. Simples :)

Just relax. Have you had a period since the last time you had sex? If you have, you're not pregnant.

Your periods could just be irregular. Mine vary from a week apart to a month and a half apart, and I haven't had sex in well over a year. It's a part of growing up.

If you're concerned about pregnancy, go get a test anyway.

      ^ Agreed.

You say the last time was three months ago. If within that three months time, you got your period, you're not pregnant. You're probably just irregular as JoBro said.
